Snowy Europe

Европа

Natural disasters do not leave Europe alone. In early December, many European countries were hit by a snowstorm, which later reached even Russia.

Cyclone “Oliver”, which swept across Europe at the weekend, caused heavy snowfall, which suspended traffic in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

The snowfall caused widespread power outages in Austria and the Czech Republic. Low temperatures of -12.5℃ were observed in the UK. A state of emergency has been declared in many countries.

In Munich, the most affected city, more than 700 flights were canceled at the airport. About 40 centimeters of snow fell overnight.

Roads are covered with snow, there is no electricity, transportation problems – when will it all end? Forecasters say that very soon the cyclone will stop raging, but the pressure will increase and low temperatures will last until the end of the week.

Lastly, an amusing incident: a plane that was supposed to fly to the UAE for a global warming summit in Munich tipped over on its tail and iced over.

The year 2023 is coming to an end and has brought many weather surprises, hopefully the recent snowfall was the last of the year.
