The Houthis reported that Yemeni rebels launched a missile attack on the US warship USS Gravely.

Yahya Sari military spokesman for the Houthis said, “Our forces fired anti-ship missiles at the US destroyer USS Gravely in the Red Sea. All American and British warships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea that are involved in attacks on Yemen – are on our target list.” He also added that the Houthis will continue to prevent the passage of Israeli ships and ships bound for Israel until “the aggression against the Gaza Strip stops and the blockade is lifted.”

The Ansar Allah movement, following the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, has said it will strike Israeli territory and will not allow ships associated with it to pass through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until the operation in the Palestinian enclave ends. The Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since mid-November last year.

U.S. Army Central Command released a statement on Platform X: “On January 30, at approximately 11:30 p.m. (Sana’a time), Iranian-backed Houthi fighters fired one anti-ship cruise missile from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen toward the Red Sea. The missile was shot down by the aircraft carrier USS Gravely (DDG 107). No injuries or damage were reported.”

Mohammed al-Atfi, a spokesman for the Houthis, said they were prepared for a long confrontation with the forces of tyranny. The Americans, the British and those who coordinated with them must realize the strength of Yemen’s sovereign decision and that there is no debate or dispute over it.
