Armed Shiite militias, which are part of the “Islamic Resistance of Iraq” movement, have launched missile strikes on a military airfield in Harrab al-Jair, it has been learned. They are stationed at bases in Syria’s Hasakeh province. 

Several strong explosions were heard inside the airfield. A thick column of smoke in the sky was seen. Earlier, this military facility was attacked by a kamikaze drone.

The first signs of an attack by Shiite militias against US bases in Syria and Iraq began in October 2023. At that time, following the invasion of the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces, and stopped two weeks ago with the start of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

U.S. military installations have come under 99 attacks by Iranian-backed militias. They are fighting on the side of the Syrian army against terrorists from the Islamic State group.

Earlier it was also known that the US retaliated several times. On February 2, about 30 Shiite fighters were killed in an air raid on their camps in al-Meyadin, Bu Kemal and al-Qaim.
