Denmark’s protest towards Iraq

Мир

On April 16, the Danish government decided to close the kingdom’s embassy in Iraq. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Such a decision Denmark made in connection with the withdrawal of Danish security and escort forces and support staff from the NATO mission in Iraq.

The Foreign Ministry said that the Danish Embassy in Iraq, in the capital Baghdad was opened in 2020 to support the Danish leadership of the NATO mission and Danish forces. But after the termination of the NMI 2022 leadership in May, Denmark continued to make significant contributions until early 2024. In the future, the NMI will have fewer military and civilian advisors.

The main task of the embassy was completed, so the government decided to close the embassy on May 31, 2024.
