U.S. and coalition warships shot down 5 Houthi drones in the Red Sea that were threatening merchant ships and the warships themselves.

«On February 27, US planes and a coalition warship shot down five Iranian-backed Houthi UAVs in the Red Sea», Kommersant reported.

All of the UAVs were sent from areas of Yemen under the control of the Houthis.

The Houthis themselves say that their actions in the Red Sea are aimed at helping the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, claiming that they do not interfere with freedom of navigation in the region. Arab and Muslim countries have repeatedly warned the U.S. that unconditional support for Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip would spread the conflict to the entire region
