Saudi officials have told the US that Israel’s incursion into the Gaza Strip could have serious repercussions for the Middle East.
According to Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, the state has repeatedly warned Washington about the dangers of the operation. The Saudi leadership hoped that the Gaza operation could be avoided “for reasons of stability as well as loss of life.”
The US has claimed Israel’s right to self-defence in the wake of the Hamas attacks. The country’s President Joe Biden in turn reports that Washington “has Jerusalem’s back”. While the American leader asked Israel to postpone the invasion of the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Israel announced a ground operation in Gaza.
