Navy sailors opened fire on a Houthi (Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement) aircraft in the Red Sea. It was not reported which aircraft they were referring to.

According to a spokesman for the paramilitary movement, several guns fired at the reconnaissance aircraft. One of the shells landed and exploded near a Gabon-flagged ship travelling from a Russian port.

Earlier on December 20, Houthi leader Abdel Malek al-Husi accused the United States of intending to militarise the Red Sea. According to him, “US actions are not aimed at protecting international navigation in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait”.
