Romania is a European state located in southeastern Europe, partially affecting the northeast. The country borders with Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia and Bulgaria, it is washed by the Black Sea. More than nineteen million inhabitants are located on 238391 square kilometers. But every year the population of Romania is decreasing both due to natural decline and due to migration outflow.

What does the history of this beautiful country hide?

  1. The fortress of Alba-Carolina. It was built in 1715-1738 and is located in the city of Alba Iulia. The perimeter of the fortress is 12 thousand kilometers, and it was built by about 20 thousand peasants. Alba Carolina itself resembles a seven-pointed star in shape. The fortress was designed to protect against the Turks, but it never tested its strength against them.
  2. The Museum of the Romanian village. It was opened in 1936 by decree of the king. The museum is still actively growing and developing today. Visitors to this attraction will be able to plunge into the atmosphere of the Romanian village, learn more about the culture and life of its inhabitants.
  3. Merry cemetery. It is located in the village of Sapyntsa, whose residents do not treat death as a gloomy event. At the Cheerful Cemetery, you can see bright tombstones with interesting and funny poems and drawings. The cemetery is open to visitors and receives thousands of tourists every year.

But the most famous attraction in Romania were vampires, namely Count Dracula. This nickname was given to the ruler of Wallachia, Vlad III Basarab, who lived in the fifteenth century. He became famous for his special cruelty, numerous murders of subordinates. But he wasn’t a vampire. Vlad Dracula was made a bloodsucker by the writer Bram Stoker thanks to his novel “Dracula”. Smart Romanians decided to attract tourists in this way. For lovers of mysticism, we recommend visiting the house of Vlad Dracula in Sighisoara, the ruins of the Poenari fortress or the Bran Castle.
