In honor of the 20-year anniversary of the release of the band’s debut album t.A.T.u «200 on counter», which became a true musical sensation of the 2000s, on November 20 in Music Media Dome there will be a tribute show. There will be more than 20 artists on the stage with numbers specially developed for the project.
In the lead-up to the NSN Press Center Tribute Show, the organizers told the audience how the album was being recorded, what the upcoming show would be like, and answered the journalists’ questions.
The participants of the press conference were:
Producer, songwriter and one of the producers of the band Tatu Elena Kiper;
Director and organizer of the tribute show “200 on the wrong side of the road”, Lookport’s seo company – Alexey Volk;
Producer of the tribute show “200 oncoming” – Tatiana Zhuravskaya;
Singer, participant of the “200 oncoming” tribute show Favlav.

What was the principle used to select the artists for the performance?
Alexei Volk was in charge of selecting the artists, he also said that “almost all show business knew about this project, we told almost all the artists. And there was no rigid selection. Those who had the idea, those who wanted to work with the material, sent their ideas and eventually made it into the album”.
What will be in the show?
The organizers are trying to keep the intrigue and do not really reveal their secrets, but we did find out something.
The show will be possible to watch both online and offline, which is a huge plus in the era of the pandemic. The organizers prepare quite a large-scale spectacle: a burning merry-go-round, the gasoline truck from the video “They won’t get us”, a symphony orchestra – this is just a part of what awaits us
What artists are participating in the tribute?
Nadya Dorofeeva, Vera Brezhneva, Alena Shvets, Band Nervy, Dmitry Malikov, Danya Milohin, MANIZHA, Alla Pugacheva, Sofia Rotaru, Monetochka, LSP, Clava Coca, Favlav and many others.
The tribute album can already be heard at all music venues.
The artists chose the songs they wanted to perform themselves.
“There’s a big thing about it. Each artist let their song through themselves, put a lot of personal things into it, and the material found a new life”, – Alexei Volk about the choice of performers.
The main purpose of the tribute:
The songs of t.A.T.u. have a lot of meaning and the lyrics are still relevant today. The main goal was to deliver the meaning of the great band’s songs in a language they can understand to a new generation. Among the Generation Z there are, of course, the fans of T.A.T.u., but there are also those who will get acquainted with this creation for the first time.
“I want to make it easier for the generation of ‘zoomers’ among the generation of millennials”, – Elena Kiper.
Question of interest to everyone: Have Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova heard the album?
“Honestly, we don’t know and we won’t hide it, if they have listened to it, we really hope they have. I as an organizer want to emphasize again, for us this project is a dedication to all involved in the band t.A.T.u.. It’s the coolest musical phenomenon. Taking the opportunity of our press conference, to invite again to the show to perform or in any format to participate”.
The organizers invited the former soloists back in the spring, but for some reason the girls will not be able to join the tribute. Ivan Shapovalov was also invited. There were discussions, but, unfortunately, they did not materialize.
What is the relationship of the former band members now?
In 2014, Elena Kiper wanted to do a new project related to the legendary band, everything was negotiated, a teaser for the project was filmed, in general, most of the plan succeeded. But at some point everything fell apart, and Kiper saw a real relationship between the girls, there was a rift between them. Katina and Volkova categorically refused to star together and signed an agreement that states that Elena Katina and Julia Volkova will never perform and work together again.

To the question «How much money was spent to create the tribute?» organizers answered:
“It’s all done for the sake of art. It’s purely a creative process. Naturally it’s a loss-making story, like any large-scale project, but I’m grateful to the artists for agreeing to perform for adequate money and to perform in terms of covering expenses”, – Alexei Volk.
For their part, the organizers, directors and performers did their best to make the show spectacular. The tribute show will be a world-famous project, which, according to Elena Kiper, should “light a fire in people”.
