Terrorist student and school bullying

Eighteen-year-old Vladislav Struzhenkov, a former high school student, was subjected to bullying by his classmates before he graduated. According to Interfax, this may have been the cause of the attack. Struzhenikov often clashed with teachers and classmates and was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The teenager’s parents are divorced, he lives with his mother and communicates with his father. The latter said that Vladislav bought firecrackers for the New Year. He may have used them to make an improvised explosive device (IED).

Explosion and casualties

According to the investigation, the terrorist planned to blow up the SPU in the building, but could not get inside. He wanted to blow himself up along with the gymnasium students, but the device exploded spontaneously, as Struzhenkov put his hand down to move the machete, which he had also taken with him.

The teenager was seriously injured and is now in intensive care. According to various sources, he had either one or both of his legs torn off.

Thirteen students of the gymnasium were injured. They were taken to hospital with injuries of varying degrees of severity. After the explosion, the children took shelter in an uninjured part of the building or ran outside.
