New COVID-19 vaccination certificates were introduced in Russia from November 8

Kremlin today

The Order of the Ministry of Health on changes in the certification of vaccination against COVID-19 and transferred infection in Russia was published on the official portal of legal information on November 8.

After being vaccinated against COVID, Russians receive new QR codes on the public services portal, which will be valid for a year.  The document contains the patient’s personal data (full name, date of birth, gender, address, passport data, SNILS, medical policy), information about the vaccination, medical contraindications, and information about COVID-19. In addition, a QR code will be located on the first page in the upper corner. The certificate will be issued in Russian and English on the “State Services” no later than three days after the vaccination and in paper form.  If the certificate was received before November 8, then it will be automatically reissued at the “State Services” until March 1, 2022.

However, many portal users have previously complained that the validity period of their COVID certificates had been decreased from one year to six months. The change in their validity period, which occurred today, is associated with technical work, follows from the commentary of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Digital Science.

“Since November 8, the order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has been in force, changing the form of the certificate. At the same time, the Federal Centre began to apply methodological recommendations that had to be re-evaluated six months after the first procedure. This period had previously been 12 months. Therefore QR-codes of citizens who have been inoculated more than 6 months ago and have ceased to operate”, –  the press service of the government of the Kamchatka Territory said in a statement.

After being asked whether the authorities, after introducing new vaccination certificates, did not consider halving the validity of Peskov’s QR codes, Peskov answered in the negative.  According to him, it is related to technical work in the portal.

The first robot for checking new certificates of vaccination against coronavirus was created by the Promobot startup with the support of the SME Corporation and SME Bank, the press service of the corporation reported:

“The robot scans the QR code, checks the passport and wishes good rest to the visitors of restaurants and public places”, –  the company said.

“We pay special attention to supporting Russian tech startups. To enable them to grow and develop rapidly, we help their founders solve various problems: from educational to financial. The Promobot company, for example, has received comprehensive support from the SME Corporation, the MIR Foundation and SMEs. The Bank has expanded the production of robots”, –  said Alexander Isaevich, General Director of the SME Corporation.

The robot was integrated with the “State Services STOP Coronavirus”, which made it possible to verify the certificate data with the State Services data and check  the authenticity of the passport or other document. Аccording to the developers, robots for checking QR codes will soon appear in many public places in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Perm.
