Pension exchange: It was told how to receive the pension of a deceased spouse in the FIU

Kremlin today

On Wednesday, September, 15, the FIU published information on the possibility for a citizen to receive a pension from a deceased spouse if it was higher.

The Agency specifies that a survivor’s pension could be transferred if the surviving spouse is of pensionable age or disabled.

“The defined benefit of the survivor’s pension is 50 per cent less than the old-age pension. Therefore, the widowed spouse will receive a pension not in the amount of that of his husband (wife)” – is said on the official website of the Agency.

However, special supplements for work in rural or northern regions are excluded. A widowed spouse would also not receive a bonus for attaining the age of eighty.

It is important to note that in order to receive a soldier’s pension, the relevant authorities or departments must be contacted. If a new marriage takes place before the pension of the deceased spouse is granted, the woman loses this option.

The Fund reminded that “in order to award a survivor’s pension, it is necessary to have been dependent on the date of death of the deceased or loss of livelihood”. Able-bodied citizens may also claim a spouse’s pension, provided that they care for the minor children of the deceased (the child/children must not be over 14 years).

You have six months to apply. In the event that the time limit is exceeded, the citizen must prove and argue in court that the six-month limit has been exceeded justifiable.
