What is the plan for a new German government with the migrant crisis?

In a few days, there will form a new government of Germany. The control goes from Angela Merkel to Olаf Scholz and his three center-left parties – SPD, The Greens, and FDP. Previously, there was a negotiation between them, after what the new coalition published an arrangement about reign.

“It is a new experience for Germany. There have never been any precedents like these. After that he negotiation was hard”, comments Horolskaya Maria Vitalievna, the candidate of political sciences, the researcher of IMEMO RAS, on it: “… the problem is not that the government has changed from the right to the left, the problem is that there is a three-party coalition”.

Before this, in FRG, there were always only two parties at the country head. Now the amount of rival parties grows in several countries. To achieve the majority and, how Maria Vitalievna explained, to be stable – the government becomes multi-party. It is handy to note that the interests of its members should be coincidental.

With Angela Merkel leaving, the situation on the border of Belarus and Poland with migrants, who want to get into Germany and the European Union has not been solved, so it might be a difficult start for Olaf Scholz as a new сhancellor.

According to analysts’ forecasts, his approach to the relationship with Belarus will be different from Merkel’s politics. There will not be a humanitarian corridor.

Wherein, the new government will direct their efforts to interact with Poland and the countries of the Near East. It belongs with demand in skilled labor. And Horolskaya is sure that this situation “may trigger the adoption of better migration legislation”.

But a change in the German political vector is still a visible fact. Everyone can only guess and bet on how successful it will be.
