On June 17, 2021, the first case of infection with a new infection, the so-called “green mold”, was detected in the Indian State of Madhya Pradesh. A 34-year-old man has suffered from a new type of aspergillosis (“green mold”).  The information came to The Times of India from Dr. Ravi Dozi of the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences.

According to the doctor: “The man was found to have an infection of a green fungus (a fungus of the genus Aspergillus) in the lungs. This is the first case of green fungus in Madhya Pradesh, but I’m not sure about the whole country.”

It is worth noting that the infection began to affect the man only after he got over the coronavirus. And it was expressed in a certain form: about 90% of the patient’s lungs were affected.

“The patient was cured of the coronavirus. But then he started having nosebleeds and a high fever. He also became very weak due to weight loss. ” — Ravi Dozi.

During the global pandemic in India, new fungal diseases were identified against the background of coronavirus outbreaks. Green mold is just one of the varieties of fungal infection, there is also a “black”, “white” and “yellow”.  Such diseases are particularly dangerous for diabetics and people with weakened immune systems. But, as it turned out, those who have been ill with COVID-19 are also in a special risk group.
