Sweet honey island

Art

Malta — is a sunny island nation located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, bordering Italy and Tunisia. Throughout its history, Malta has belonged to several different empires. It was captured by the Moors, Italians, French and British.

Where did the name of this country come from?

The most common version tells us that the word “Malta” comes from the ancient Greek ΜελίΤη (Melitē), meaning “honey”. The name is very logical, because on the island there is a special regional subspecies of bees, thanks to which quite rare and delicious honey is produced. The apiaries themselves are located inside the rocks. The taste of honey is almost the same as normal, but more aromatic.

As a student who visited Malta to learn English, I can say that the locals are very good-natured and understanding. They are always ready to give you the necessary help or just tell you the way.

In our case, the local residents showed us where the most fun and “party” places are located.

I want to tell you about one of these places.

Paceville is a neighborhood located in the small town of St. Julius. And it is in this area that the entire Maltese nightlife takes place. Every day, thousands of people visit nightclubs, bars, restaurants and spend the rest of their day carefree.

The entrance is allowed only from the age of 17. Here we could only wander around the mall and wait for the coming of age.

What can the older generation visit?

As someone who has visited this wonderful country, I can say that Malta has a huge number of amazing places and attractions.

And one of them is located on the island of Gozo.

Gozo is a small island surrounded by water both outside and inside. Scientists believe that the island was formed in this way due to an earthquake.

And the locals have found a way to make money on this. In the depths of the caves, guided tours are conducted, for which you need to pay about 4€ per person. And this money is really worth the emotions that you will get during the tour.

What else is worth visiting?

In Malta, the cities are almost identical, but very atmospheric. There is no point in looking at all of them, so I can advise you to take a guided tour on the water, which gives you a view of Malta at night. These landscapes are breathtaking and leave no one indifferent.

As I said earlier, all cities are really very similar to each other, but each city has its own history. And you can talk about this story for hours on end.

Let’s take Valletta, the capital of Malta. The city was founded in 1566 and was built in an unusually short time, namely in just 15 years. The city is named after its founder, Jean Parisot de la Valletta. It can be called one of the tiniest capitals in Europe, but let’s not forget that all these tiny streets and alleys create a special Maltese atmosphere.

What can other tourists say about the beautiful Malta?

I asked my former classmate to tell me about his experiences in Malta. And here’s what he said:

“It was very cool! I was afraid to go to the last, and at first it was very uncomfortable there. However, then, having a wide circle of people nearby (both from Russia and from foreign countries), I began to overcome the language barrier (and this was my main goal of the trip), and I became very comfortable. And the teachers were excellent, and the trips, especially the evening ones. And, of course, a trip without parents, therefore, a sense of independence and freedom. In general, Malta has helped me to shape myself to a certain extent as a person. It is impossible not to mention the excellent scenery. 100/10!”, — Sergey Kalinkin.

Finally, I want to say that Malta really helped me change my views on life and people. A country that exudes freedom and friendliness. I would love to visit it more than once and I sincerely advise you to visit it, because you will never be able to forget the emotions received from the trip.
