The Kingdom after the War of the Spanish Succession

At the beginning of the 18th century, after the death of Charles II, a war broke out for the “Spanish inheritance”, as a result of which the Bourbon dynasty reigned, and Spain became “pro—French”. In 1808, a popular uprising broke out, which led to the abdication of the king. In the future, the French were expelled from the country, after which the Bourbons were restored to the throne.

Spain is known to many as the birthplace of Cervantes, Gaudi and Dali. If you look, almost the whole country is a huge centuries-old open-air museum, surrounded by endless sandy and not only beaches and diverse nature. In the 1980s, tourism became one of the leading sectors of the Spanish economy.

Spaniards and their daily routine deserve special attention. It is believed that the Spaniards are far from the title of the most hardworking peoples of the world— and it is understandable why.

The Spanish word siesta is called an afternoon nap, which is accepted in some countries with a hot climate. The longest siesta is different in Spain, and perhaps this is due to the fact that the Spanish family dinner is more substantial than in other countries. The time allotted for a midday vacation in Spain may vary depending on the region.

Many facilities sacrifice siesta for profit. This primarily applies to cities with a large influx of tourists – Barcelona and Madrid. Of course, now the main attractions, large shopping centers, restaurants and cafes are open without a day break.

It should also be borne in mind that the custom of siesta allows you to avoid exhausting outdoor work in the summer heat.
