“We need to do it faster”: Putin demands to speed up the pace of vaccination

Kremlin today

On July 21, Vladimir Putin held a meeting with members of the government, the main issue was the rate of vaccination against coronavirus. According to the president, the pace of vaccination should increase, but at the same time it is impossible to impose vaccination on citizens, it is necessary to explain the need for vaccination.

“Our main task now is to increase the rate of vaccination in the country. It is extremely important to convince people of the need to get vaccinated, that this is the only way we can put a barrier to the epidemic,” — the president said.

Putin also added that it is necessary to «professionally and in detail» answer all questions about vaccination, since most do not understand the need for vaccinations.

At the same time, according to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, the number of vaccinated people is increasing, and the number of residents who have received at least one dose of the vaccine has increased by almost a quarter, and if everything continues in the same spirit, about 80% will be vaccinated by September. In addition, Tatyana told about which categories of citizens are vaccinated more actively, and which are less.

“The largest share of the number of vaccinated people are over the age of 60, this is 31.4%. Citizens aged 40-49 are in second place and citizens aged 30-39 are in third place. The lowest percentage of vaccination is observed in citizens aged 18-29 years”, — the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Today, the best vaccination process takes place in Moscow and the Moscow region and the regions of Central Russia.

At the end of the conversation about vaccination, Putin added that the summer of 2021 is another test for Russia in the fight against coronavirus infection.

“This summer has become another test for us in the fight against coronavirus infection. Everything is very difficult, as we can see. It is clear that people are tired,” — he said.
