“The challenge” is a project of a Channel One , Roscosmos and Yellow Black and White studio. This feature film will become part of a educational and scientific project, in which it’s planned to shoot a series of documentaries about the enterprises of the rocket and space industry.

The launch of the “Soyuz-2.1a”  launch vehicle with the “Soyuz MS-19” manned spacecraft and the ISS-66 crew on October 5, 2021 from the Baikonur cosmodrome was broadcast on Channel One. According to them, the broadcast has collected 13 million views on the Internet.  This is one third more than the number of views of the last Eurovision final.

The planned duration of work of specially trained ISS-66 crew members is 174 days.

The competition for the lead role in the film was announced last November. In March, 20 finalists were selected. Based on the results of medical and creative selection, it was recommended to appoint Yulia Peresild and Klim Shipenko to the prime crew. The backup crew includes cosmonaut Oleg Artemiev, cameraman Alexei Dudin and actress Alena Mordovina.

The film crew began filming the film on the ISS on October 6.

Live streams were also available at many venues. In addition, more than 220 thousand times users launched a virtual rocket in the Channel One application, which became the first example of a large-scale integration of augmented reality technology and traditional television broadcasting.
