The situation in Syria: the militants are reminiscent of themselves

Fierce fighting has been raging in north-eastern Syria since January 20, 2022. The conflict erupted when militants belonging to the Islamic State group (recognised as a terrorist organisation and banned in many countries around the world, including Russia) attempted to free some prisoners from Sina’a prison.

On Thursday, members of the aforementioned group detonated two car bombs tentatively placed near the institution’s premises. Their actions were strongly rebuffed by the Kurds, with dozens of people injured in the initial clashes.

Some of the extremists who had been detained had managed to escape with the weapons they had in their possession. The militants have shown strong resistance to the authorities, with the number of casualties increasing and increasing each day.

The United States Air Force was involved in the presentation of the IT participants. The Government of Syria stated that United States aircraft were targeting not only sites occupied by extremists, but also territories belonging to the civilian population.

«The Syrian Arab Republic once again condemns the actions that led to the displacement of thousands of Syrian citizens and increased their suffering, and demands the withdrawal of the US military contingent» -, said the Syrian Foreign Ministry agency.

Local residents living near Sina’a have been forced to flee their homes in fear. The Kurds have appealed to the UN to secure the civilian population of Hasakah.
