The heads of state discussed cooperation in various spheres, primarily on the trade and economic component of the countries. Due to the imposed sanctions, the presidents separately focused on economic relations. The issue of restoring railway and air links between Belarus and Russia was discussed in detail. But the issue of lifting restrictions on the movement of citizens across the Belarusian-Russian border by road remains open for now.

The leaders also focused on the development of military-technical cooperation and security issues, as well as the most urgent and pressing issues of interaction with neighboring countries.

They recalled that the leaders of Russia and Belarus on Thursday will also take part in the forum of the regions of the two countries, which this year is held in an online format.

On the eve of the plenary session of the VIII Forum of Russia and Belarus, in which Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko will take part in a videoconference, a number of topical issues for both Russia and Belarus were discussed. The forum is attended by the heads of the Federation Council and the Council of the Republic of Belarus, the governments of the two countries, as well as the heads of Russian subjects and regions of the republics.

Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Yuri Vorobyov announced plans for the heads of state to speak at a videoconference within the framework of the forum.

The previous time, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko held personal talks in Sochi at the end of May. The Belarusian president then spent two days in Russia. Vladimir Vladimirovich also noted that Russia remains a key trade and economic partner of Belarus.
