Elizabeth Alexandra Maria was born to the Duke and Duchess of York in 1926. At a young age she did not even think she would take the throne as she was not a direct contender. The future queen’s uncle Edward VIII initially ruled, but he then passed the throne to her father George VI and Elizabeth became the potential heiress. After her father’s accession to the throne, Elizabeth lived with her parents in Buckingham Palace.

As a child, she studied art, law, religion and the Constitution of Great Britain, and was an intelligent and age-appropriate child.

The Queen also adores horses and horse riding to this day. Throughout her life, Elizabeth II has had around 30 different pets.

George VI died on 6 February 1952, the same day Elizabeth Alexandra Mary took the rightful throne. She made a promise to the nation that she would devote her life to the people and prosperity of the country.

The coronation was set for 2 June 1953. Elizabeth assumed her duties at  Westminster Abbey. The event is remembered as the first coronation in history to be broadcast on television. After the coronation, the new Queen took a long carriage ride to be seen by as many people as possible.

It has been 70 years since the coronation of Elizabeth II. The Queen spent this special day with her family. She was the first British monarch to rule for so long. The Queen was congratulated by people around the world, and the years of Elizabeth’s reign were recognized as an achievement in British history.

70 years of reign were not left unnoticed by the British authorities. To impress people, it was decided to have special souvenirs made in order to mark the occasion.

The souvenirs were saucers and cups which should have read “Platinum Jubilee”, but were eventually found to be defective. Instead of the correct inscription the Chinese manufacturers wrote ‘Platinum Jubbly’. The word ‘Jubbly’ itself has many translations, one example being ‘lovely jubbly’, which means ‘excellent, wonderful’.

In the end, customers abandoned the product, but another company that specializes in wholesale trade, Wholesale Clearance, wanted to purchase it. The head of the site has taken the whole lot on sale.

“What could be more unique than our typed-up dishes produced in a limited edition?” – commented on this situation by the site manager.

It is true, even if the product is defective, it is a real find for collectors and patriots of the homeland. It is executed with a special exclusive inscription in limited circulation and will be demanded.

Karl Baxter (the head of the site) also announced a 90% discount on wholesale purchases: “This is your chance to get your hands on a new souvenir for a little money”.
