Which country can be called truly European?

Maybe it’s the French Eiffel Tower. Maybe these are Italian mountain resorts. Maybe it’s Belgian chocolate. But the numerous canals and tulip fields of the Netherlands are definitely associated with Europe.

The Netherlands is a country spread over the main territory in Western Europe, which is washed by the North Sea, and the islands of Sint Eustatius, Saba and Bonaire in the Caribbean Sea. Together with the islands of Curacao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten, which have a special status of self-governing state entities, they are part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and relations between its members are regulated by the Charter of the Kingdom of the Netherlands adopted in 1954. The country borders with Belgium and Germany, has an area of 41543 square kilometers and a population of 17509521 people.

What is the Netherlands famous for?

Of course, the most iconic thing of the Netherlands is the channels. A thin water web permeates almost the entire country, because the center of the country’s capital, Amsterdam, is on average located two meters below sea level. The very name of the country means “lower lands” from the Dutch language. The Dutch tulip fields are also famous. The Netherlands supplies its flowers to all corners of the world, and tulip bulbs during the wars saved the inhabitants of the country from hunger. Many tourists go to the farms to see the typical local village landscape: mills, green fields with cows and sheep, and cheese factories.
